Election Details: By simple majority of voting members annually. Nominated at November meeting and elected at December meeting. Term begins immediately following election.
Term Length: 1 year, with no limit on the number of terms served consecutively or non-consecutively.
Major Duties: Serve on the Executive Committee. Be the custodian of all physical and electronic assets of the Society, unless otherwise stated. Be responsible for the reserve stock of the Society's publications (electronic and otherwise), and for preserving such records, databases, papers, and items of the Society as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. Serve as the Society historian. In coordination with the Treasurer, processes and packages all custodial orders for the Society, including back issues, memoirs and miscellaneous publications.
Timeline of Activities: Four (4) times per year receives reserve stock of Proceedings issues. Prepares and ships custodial orders (on average 2-3 times/month). Once per year (in November), provides a report of activities (custodial orders filled) to the Executive Committee and for the President to present to the membership at the annual meeting in December. This report will be submitted to the co-Editors of the Proceedings for publication the following Spring.
Office: The office of the Curator and Archives of the Entomological Society of Washington is located in E-532A—inside the Entomology library (E-532). The Curator has authority to request any additional surplus cabinetry or storage barristers as are needed to house the ESW archives securely and safely.
From ESW Bylaws Section 7.08 Curator
(a) The Curator shall be the custodian of all physical and electronic assets of the Society, unless otherwise stated. The individual shall be responsible for the reserve stock of the Society's publications (electronic and otherwise), and for preserving such records, databases, papers, and items of the Society as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee.
(b) As the custodian of these artifacts, the Curator shall also serve as the Society historian, and shall prepare a narrative account of the Society's activities during term of office.
